The 15th South Asia Hakuakai Karate Championship 2026 is set to bring together talented karate practitioners from across South Asia in a grand display of skill, discipline, and martial spirit. Organized by the Japan Karate Do Hakuakai Organization – India, this prestigious event will take place on 3rd and 4th May 2026 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
More than just a regional championship, this event carries significant importance as it also serves as the selection tournament for the World Hakuakai Karate Championship scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan from 7th to 9th August 2026.

The South Asia Hakuakai Karate Championship has grown into one of the most anticipated karate tournaments in the region. The competition invites junior and senior karate players, along with respected Shihan and Sensei, to participate and witness high-level karate competition.
This championship not only promotes sporting excellence but also strengthens martial arts relationships among practitioners across South Asia. Participants will compete under internationally recognized standards, ensuring fairness and professionalism throughout the event.

The Talkatora Indoor Stadium is one of India’s prominent sports venues and has hosted several national and international competitions. Its professional infrastructure provides an ideal platform for high-quality martial arts tournaments.
Tournament Schedule
The event is planned over two days with a structured schedule to accommodate registration and competition activities.
Day 1 – 3rd May 2026
- Registration for all teams from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM
- Venue for registration: Hotel Swiss International, East Patel Nagar, New Delhi
- Participants must produce original Aadhaar card for registration verification.
Day 2 – 4th May 2026
- Tournament begins at 09:00 AM sharp
- Lunch will be provided by the organizing committee at 1:00 PM.
Competition Rules
The championship will follow World Karate Federation (WKF) rules and regulations, ensuring that the matches adhere to internationally accepted competition standards. In case of disputes or confusion during bouts, the Technical Director’s decision will be final.
This ensures professionalism and maintains the credibility of the competition.
Categories and Divisions
The championship includes a wide range of categories, allowing athletes from different age groups and skill levels to participate.
Kumite Categories
Sub-Junior (Boys & Girls)
- Age Groups: 6 years to 13 years
- Event: Individual Kumite
Cadet Category (14–15 years)
- Boys: -45kg, -52kg, -57kg, -63kg, +70kg
- Girls: -40kg, -47kg, -54kg, +54kg
Junior Category (16–17 years)
- Boys: -50kg, -55kg, -61kg, -68kg, -76kg, +76kg
- Girls: -40kg, -47kg, -54kg, +54kg
Senior Category (18 years and above)
- Men: -50kg, -55kg, -60kg, -67kg, -75kg, -84kg, +84kg
- Women: -45kg, -50kg, -55kg, -61kg, -68kg, +68kg
An Open Kumite division may also be cond

The Kata competition includes separate divisions for boys and girls.

Entry Fees and Registration
Participants are required to register before the deadline.
Last Date for Registration: 20th April 2026
Entry Fees
- Single Event (Kata/Kumite): ₹2000 per participant
- Second Event: ₹1000 per participant
- Accommodation with event: ₹4500 per participant (including hotel stay for two nights)
Coaches accompanying teams with 7 or more players will receive free accommodation, while smaller teams may be charged ₹2000 for coach accommodation.
Mandatory Requirements for Participants
To ensure smooth participation, competitors must bring the following:
- Original Date of Birth Certificate (especially for sub-junior, cadet, and junior categories)
- Passport-size photograph for ID card
- Full Karate kit including:
- Aka/Ao gloves
- Belt
- Mouth guard
- Groin guard
- Clean white karate uniform
Awards and Recognition
The championship will provide internationally recognized recognition to participants.
Awards include:

- Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals
- Participation Certificates
- Merit Certificates
- Official Certificates for referees and coaches
Most importantly, selected athletes will receive an official selection letter to represent their country at the World Hakuakai Karate Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
