Mugdar and Traditional Indian Workouts Session

By Sensei Sudarshan Dev

One of the most exciting and engaging sessions of the Inner Power Camp was conducted by Sensei Sudarshan Dev, the Chief Instructor of MuddyMuscles®. His session focused on traditional Indian strength training methods, particularly the powerful and time-tested practice of Mugdar training. Mugdar, also known as Indian clubs, has been used for centuries by Indian warriors and wrestlers to develop strength, coordination, and endurance. During the session, participants learned the proper Mugdar swinging techniques along with drills designed to improve shoulder mobility, grip strength, and body coordination. The flowing movements involved in Mugdar training helped participants understand how rhythm and controlled motion contribute to endurance and joint health, making it not only a strength exercise but also a method for improving balance and body awareness.

In addition to Mugdar training, Sensei Sudarshan Dev introduced participants to traditional Akhada-style bodyweight workouts, which are fundamental components of Indian physical culture. These exercises included Dand (Indian push-ups), Baithak (Hindu squats), and Sapate along with mobility drills. These classic exercises have been practiced for generations in traditional wrestling arenas and are known for building natural strength, stamina, flexibility, and resilience. One of the most important aspects of these workouts is that they require minimal or no equipment while still delivering highly effective results. Participants experienced how these simple yet powerful movements can develop full-body strength and endurance while improving overall physical conditioning.

Alongside the strength training component, Sensei Sudarshan Dev also conducted a Karate training session, introducing participants to the fundamental principles of martial arts practice. The session covered basic striking techniques, correct stances, and body mechanics essential for effective movement and power generation. Beyond the physical techniques, the Karate session also emphasized discipline, focus, and the martial arts mindset that forms the foundation of traditional training. This part of the camp demonstrated how traditional strength exercises and martial arts techniques complement each other, showing participants the deep connection between functional strength development and effective martial arts performance.

Krav Maga Self-Defense Session

By Sensei Ranjeet Singh

The camp also featured an intense Krav Maga self-defense session conducted by Sensei Ranjeet Singh, the head of KKshatriya Martial Arts Gurukul. Krav Maga is widely recognized as one of the most practical and effective self-defense systems in the world, developed to prepare individuals for real-life threats and unpredictable situations. During the session, participants were introduced to essential concepts such as situational awareness, defense against common attacks, quick reaction techniques, and effective escape strategies from dangerous situations. The training emphasized practical responses that can be applied immediately in real-life scenarios rather than complex martial techniques.

Sensei Ranjeet Singh highlighted that true self-defense is not only about fighting skills but also about awareness, presence of mind, and confidence. He guided participants on how to recognize potential threats early and make quick decisions under pressure. Through realistic demonstrations and interactive drills, participants were trained to remain calm, maintain control of the situation, and respond effectively when faced with danger. The session provided valuable insights into personal safety while empowering participants with the mindset and practical skills necessary to protect themselves in challenging situations.

Racquet Ninja Gurugram Session

The Inner Power Camp also included a special session for Racquet Ninja Gurugram, bringing together participants from a vibrant and energetic sports and fitness community. This session created a valuable opportunity for interaction between racquet sports athletes and martial arts practitioners, allowing both groups to exchange ideas and training experiences. The session highlighted how traditional strength training methods can significantly benefit athletes from different sporting backgrounds, especially those involved in racquet-based sports.

During the training, Racquet Ninja members were introduced to exercises and techniques designed to enhance shoulder strength, grip endurance, core stability, and reaction speed. These physical qualities are extremely important for athletes who participate in sports such as badminton, tennis, and other racquet games, where quick reflexes, strong shoulders, and stable core movements play a crucial role in performance. Through the demonstration of traditional Mugdar training and functional exercises, participants experienced how these ancient Indian training methods can effectively support modern sports performance and injury prevention. The session successfully demonstrated the versatility of traditional training systems and how they can be adapted to benefit athletes from diverse sporting disciplines.

Building Community and Reviving the Warrior Spirit

One of the most beautiful aspects of the Inner Power Camp was the strong sense of community and shared learning that developed among the participants. People from different backgrounds came together with a common goal — to become stronger, learn practical skills, explore traditional training methods, and build discipline and confidence. Through group training sessions, interactive discussions, and live demonstrations, the camp created an inspiring environment where everyone encouraged each other and pushed their personal limits. The collective energy and spirit of teamwork made the training experience not only educational but also deeply motivating for all participants.

The Inner Power Camp was not merely about physical exercise; it was also about reviving the warrior spirit that has always been an important part of Indian culture. By combining traditional Akhada workouts, Karate discipline, and Krav Maga self-defense, the camp offered a holistic approach to personal development. Participants experienced how physical strength, mental focus, and self-defense awareness can work together to build a balanced and confident individual. By the end of the camp, participants left with improved strength and endurance, greater self-confidence, practical self-defense knowledge, and a deeper appreciation for traditional training methods that have been passed down through generations.

The success of the Inner Power Camp clearly reflects the growing interest in authentic martial arts and traditional fitness practices. Programs like this play an important role in preserving valuable knowledge while inspiring the next generation to adopt a healthier, stronger, and more disciplined lifestyle. With the dedicated leadership of Sensei Sudarshan Dev and Sensei Ranjeet Singh, and the continued efforts of MuddyMuscles® and KKshatriya Martial Arts Gurukul, such initiatives will continue to empower individuals and communities, helping to keep the spirit of traditional martial arts alive across the country
